Frequently Asked Questions
Where is Gullfaxi Way located?
We’re located in Valparaiso, Indiana, at our family farm — a welcoming space dedicated to community, learning, and the love of horses.
Who can participate in lessons?
Our program is open to ages 5 through 90, and we welcome all experience levels — from complete beginners to experienced riders.
Are lessons really free?
Yes! We proudly offer premiere horse riding lessons at no cost to the public as part of our mission to give back.
Donations to Gullfaxi Way are always appreciated and help us continue providing quality care for our horses and riders.
How often are lessons offered?
Lessons are offered monthly, and participation is limited to a set number of students per month (TBD). Due to high interest, we maintain a waiting list to ensure everyone has a fair opportunity to ride.
What kind of riding do you teach?
We specialize in English-style riding, focusing on balance, connection, and horsemanship fundamentals.
What do I need to bring?
We provide all essential horse gear and a certified trainer.
Participants should bring riding pants and appropriate shoes (boots with a small heel) if available — we have some sizes on hand, but may not have all fits available.
How do I sign up for lessons?
Simply fill out the contact form on our website!
We’ll reach out to schedule a short visit to meet you, introduce you to our horses, and make sure it’s a good match for both sides.
Do you offer group or private lessons?
Yes — we offer both one-on-one and small group sessions depending on rider needs and availability.
Can I volunteer?
Absolutely! We love our volunteers and couldn’t do this without them.
All volunteers go through a simple vetting process and must schedule in advance. Opportunities include helping with lessons, caring for horses, and maintaining the farm.
Can I donate to support the program?
Yes — your support makes a difference. Donations can be made directly to “Gullfaxi Way”, helping fund feed, gear, and lesson scholarships. We’re currently in the process of obtaining 501(c)(3) non-profit status.
How many horses are part of the program?
We currently have two wonderful horses in the program, each carefully trained to ensure a safe, educational, and positive experience for riders of all levels.
Are lessons supervised?
Yes — all sessions are supervised by experienced instructors who focus on safety, confidence, and respect for both horse and rider.
Do you have programs for veterans or riders with disabilities?
We’re developing specialized programs for riders with disabilities and are proud to welcome veterans to participate in our lessons and community events.
What is your mission?
Our goal is simple: to give back to the local community by providing no-cost horse lessons and meaningful farm experiences.
Through the joy of riding, we aim to teach confidence, compassion, and connection with nature.
